Paul,

A very interesting conversation indeed!

Like you I have sold a bunch of puts. So, the way you seem to have defined a "sucker", I have to wonder, who is at the other end of these transactions? Someone "suckered" in by people with negative sentiment on this stock?

Unlike you I am sitting on a bunch of AMD stock (read unrealized long-term capital losses unless the stock gets back up). Do I consider myself "suckered" - NO. I did my research and took a risk on the underdog and that didn't go in my favor. AMD has been one of my underperforming stocks; on the otherhand INTC, MSFT, QCOM did pretty well. (QCOM was a dog for the first 3 years though - like AMD)

For hyping or for community sake or whatever reason, Jim provides a perspective and information about the company and I appreciate it. His perspective/information seems to favor AMD for the time being.

Regretfully, I haven't yet found a well reasoned perspective from the opposite angle on this thread yet. I see a lot of AND/Intel bashing but not much in the way of solid arguments. It would be nice if someone like you who seems knowledgeable on how Intel might respond to K7 can articulate that viewpoint.

If someone can put on the hat of an Intel manager and come up with the thought process on how to respond if AMD, within their capacity and customer restraints, ramps K7 from 500 MHz in June to 700 MHz in Q4 and K6-3 from 400-600 MHz from now to Q4. That would make this thread a lot more interesting and a lot more valuable for everyone.
