J. Kenyon,

I belong to an NAIC investment club. We looked at this stock last year and decided to pass. I can't remember all of the details, but I do remember that we compared it to Pep Boys and AutoZone. At the time we reviewed these stocks, the industry/sector was somewhat depressed. We didn't like the expansion and debt ratios of O'Reillys (we thought it was too aggressive if the market should head south). While Pep Boys and AutoZone didn't fare much better in our analysis, they were larger companies than ORLY and more geographically widespread than ORLY. One advantage we found in ORLY was that its' geographic location was in an area where folks still go to auto parts stores and still do their own automotive repair work. Industry figures showed that in other parts of the country, just the opposite was true. People tended to take their car to automotive repair shops when they needed fixing. Thusly Pep Boys and AutoZone might face some marketing problems in the future. Our final decision was to pass on the entire industry for now, at least until the picture is much clearer for all three stocks. Good luck.
