Sparc processor AV decoder software Electronics Times
David (digital audio/video decoder) 2.2 system software for Micro Sparc processors, from [ Microware Systems ] , enables Internet access and compliance with multiple digital TV standards for set-top box and multimedia devices.
The package was developed and ported to hardware from [ C-Cube Microsystems ] , and is built on the secure process model of Microware's OS/9 realtime operating system (RTOS). It allows customers to upgrade software components dynamically on the fly and offers fault tolerance because the operating system is isolated from application programs.
David 2.2 for Micro Sparc includes mwMAUI realtime graphics and input software, mwSoftStax superior realtime comms architecture, a motion picture file manager, Item comms software extension and Duxman for the control of network data to MPEG hardware and applications. It has been designed for operation with C-Cube's Ignition Reference Platform.
This platform is a complete design environment for set-top developers and includes a motherboard with modular extension bays, external interfaces, software plus schematics and design documentation.
Network processing is enabled via the Avia-INX graphic transport network processor, which incorporates transport stream demultiplexing, advanced graphics processing and acceleration, true 24bit graphics, DVB descrambling, 80 to 100MHz CPU operation and smartcard interfaces.
