INTERNET--(esecurities.W)--April 24, 1999 - Toys "R" Us Raises $5 Million for Charity 

"...Toys “R” Us announced today that it raised over $5 million yesterday through its organization, The Children's Benefit Fund, Inc. 
     The organization held an “Evening for Special Children” at New York's Marriott Marquis Hotel last night. The event was hosted by Rosie O'Donnell and featured Bette Midler as the star performer. The evening was topped off by a fundraising auction. 
     The money raised during the auction will go to over 200 organizations, hospitals and foundations including the Made-a-Wish Foundation, Children's Hospital – Boston, Duke Children's Hospital at Duke University Medical Center and more. 
     “The Toy's “R” Us Children's Benefit Fund was established to raise money for charities and organizations that benefit children's health and welfare,” said Robert C. Nakasone, chief executive officer of Toys “R” Us. “We're very proud that every penny raised goes directly to children's charities..."
