Well, this particular strain of the CIH virus is date activated. You could have gotten it from an infected program via email, a download from an infected site, a floppy disk transfer from co-workers, friends, etc. It's not trasmitted directly from email messages though...only from attachements.

It's designed to run when it detects the system date being April 26th. If you move your system date up the 27th, then change it back to what it should be a couple of days later, your just fine since your system was never 'on' when the the date was the 26th. Atleast the computer doesn't think so.

I'm curious to see what the outcome will be. You won't have infected machines passing tons of email and clogging servers...they just won't start anymore. It'll probably make my life miserable for the next week or so with support calls. :)
