Correct...any "support and nurturing" that men "give their children" is a result of socialization. The male biological imperative is not to nurture the young...the male "supports" and psychologically "takes ownership" of the Mother. The children benefit or suffer through the mothers relationship to that father/"provider". " ...you could argue that women are biologically finished when the kid is weaned too." I'm sure you could...but you'd lose the argument, which is evidenced by the comment itself... I wonder how many men share your self-serving ignorance. I would pay$ to see a man be handed a freshly "weaned" infant..and then have to "nurture and support" it until it could stand and walk on it's own. You're kidding yourself if you think "the state" is the "caretaker"... the people "performing" the "nurturing and supporting" of the children are, always have been, always will be, ultimately Women. "...China, you know. Not so good if you are a girl baby." That's true...for every Female borne, to varying degrees of severity, globaly. It's interesting that you see "the government" as Maternalistic. Could it be acute Rodham-Bunchitis??
