Dennis: I've been thinking more about the early equity offering. I wonder whether it's uncertainty over the Y2K bug and what it might do to the markets in late 99 and well into 2000.

Most of us believe that North America and probably Western Europe have things well in hand for Y2K remediation. There may be sporadic disruptions and inconveniences, etc. But things are so globally interconnected these days that simultaneous (and more serious) infrastructure problems in Russia, China, Asia, Eastern Europe and South America could be a trigger for a massive flight of capital from the markets.

So consequently, not good timing to be looking for more equity financing in 2000.

Take a look at this CIA report on the international risks of Y2K...

cia.gov

So another trip to the markets right now could turn out to be a very good idea indeed!
