NATO sends tank convoy, equipment to Macedonia << NATO moved a large convoy of trucks from Greece into Macedonia on Saturday to beef up a 12,500-strong potential peace keeping force, alliance officials said.
''There is a convoy that has crossed the border. It is a second tranche of the equipment for the military forces to be deployed here,'' spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrew Venus told Reuters.
''The convoy included 20 Leopard tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers and some M109 artillery from the Netherlands,'' he said. ''Another tranche of the equipment is due to come early next week.'' >>
