Chris -
I think you need to take into account that EL is our resident cassandra and take these dire warnings with a dose of salt.

There has been no hint in the media or elsewhere of any accounting irregularities at CPQ. There has been some discussion about the fact that DEC accounting systems were not integrated with CPQ's yet and so there are delays in getting accurate rollup information - this is reflected that the final numbers for each quarter seem to be about a week later than before the acquisition. But inefficiency due to manual operations is not an irregularity.

I understand from talking to CPQ employees last week that the HR systems are also not merged yet - that DEC people still get a DEC payroll check, not a CPQ one, and the benefits and other HR stuff is still separate also. This extends to things like job titles and pay grades which has caused some confusion as teams are combined. In one case which was discussed over lunch on Thursday, apparently two DEC Vice Presidents got assigned to work for a CPQ Director - because he outranked the DEC VPs and was higher in the organization. No word on how CPQ intends to resolve this issue but I'm sure that is all part of the challenge of integrating two large companies.
