Don't give up quite yet. Since I submitted my original post, I spoke to tech support (Tracy?). He made a suggestion which seems to have made (although I am still testing) a vast improvement. He suggested that I use static IP addresses rather than a dynamic one assigned to me by my ISP. I tried his suggestion and while I still have disconnects, they are far less frequent than before (Again, I am still testing and my conclusions are preliminary). Of course this solution may be prohibitively expensive. If, for example, you use a Tier 1 ISP such as UUNET, they charge a $250 setup fee and about $200/month for 150 hours of ISDN if you request a static IP from them. By contrast, an account with a dynamic IP is only about $40/mo. It seems to be that the software could be written to accomodate a dynamic IP. I use M B Trading's Realtick as well with a dynamic account. And while I experience connectivity problems there, I do so far less frequently. I concur with you that minute by minute daytrading with this kind of unreliability is far too risky. It seems to me that a firm cannot claim to be a daytrading firm unless they provide rock solid connectivity. I am interested in other people's experiences and I promise to keep everyone posted about mine.
