Not so fast, Joan! What you said, and what I disagree with, is very different that what Lather said, with which I do agree, and I will highlight the important difference:

You say that scholars retain skepticism about their ideas, and recognize that their word will not be the last, even before they are presented with new facts - Lather says that scholars are willing to change their minds when (after) they are presented with new facts. One is prospective in action, one is retrospective.
