We have 10 trading days between now and the magical 5-10-99 Philips end truce day! With the kind of lackluster volume of 160000+ seen yesterday, VLSI may crawl at the most to $ 20! Philips is not stupid to insist on a $ 17 offer. They may offer $ 22 and VLSI will reject it. Then it is between LSI, IBM, STM and Texas Ins. to come up with something. With the $ 30+ point run up IBM has had in the last couple of days after earnings, they should be able to squash Philips with a $ 30 offer - but then what will they do with VLSI? IBM's Gestner keeps saying the PC era is over, maybe he will give VLSI a chance via wireless technology or is it just my wishful thinking.....If he turned the fat IBM around, he should be able to straighten out VLSI with the stroke of a pen .... or a modem.............(fire Moe,Joe,Al...!)
