Does anyone here think that the EXTREMELY rich bid AT&T/TCI made for MediaOne is bearish for GIC? MediaOne is the only cable co. that has a truly "open" architecture for their STB's. I think AT&T is going to force GIC to conform to the "open" standards whether GIC wants to or not (SFA too). This development would obviously erode greatly GIC's pricing power and greatly benefit AT&T/TCI. I think that was a significant factor in AT&T's bid calculus.
