gmccon : It's not for me to criticise your country or anyone else's, for that matter. But I am very upset by the NATO intervention in Yugoslavia under the leadership of the present US administration.
Since you raised the subject of a sick society, however, I feel the recent school shootings are symptomatic of the means to power falling into the wrong hands. In other words, the Denver massacre is a parallel of the Kosovo situation. Misguided motives by people who don't understand and don't deserve power and too easy access to weapons. And a screwed up value system.
I'm not a military veteran. My experience of control over life and death situations is as a former anesthesiologist. And I can assure you because I have made mistakes, and seen others make mistakes, which cost some unfortunates their lives that I am aware of the enormous responsibility involved in such decisions. That is why I am critical, in fact contemptuous, of the NATO leadership which, I feel, has neither the experience nor the wisdom to make the decisions which they are now attempting to do. And, it is the repercussions of these decisions which we all will have to bear.
