You sound like you're in the same boat I'm in. I recently did a little survey, based on a newspaper article up here (New Jersey), on how widespread Bell Atlantic's dsl deployments were going to be, how soon. I came up with (if I remember right)19% of homes in New Jersey would have dsl available by year end. First they've got to get the equipment into the central offices. Then, they've got to get the filters and other junk off their copper lines--which get in the way of the dsl signal. It's a slow process. And, there's no guarantee that when the co is equipped that you'll be able to get dsl!

And then, BA insults us by offering 90K as their lowest price, slower than isdn upstream! The version that they're offering targeted to the soho user is really a dumbed down version of adsl. But, they have to protect their installed infrastructure of T1 and isdn, I suppose.
