Leading Users
The users with the most strategic advantage and strategic risk will be the ones most likely to lead. Look for businesses whose industries are being redefined by the Internet, e.g. Fedex, Lands End, Dell, Intel, Fidelity Investments, Bank of America, Safeway, etc. to be the early aggressive adopters. Many of these companies have a huge vested interest in accurately managing a wide array of documents behind their web sites. Statements, load documents, purchase orders, benefits information, effective-dated policies and procedures that take more than path names in NTFS or Unix raw partitions. These will be the companies that integrate the Internet and document management in a strategic way. It should be easier for companies to do than it is with the current generation of tools. |
