I suggest you look into the fiscal policies laid down by Reagan and Bush and then realize who's fiscal prudence Clinton is and has actually been capitalizing on.

During the period 1981-1992, the national debt rose from 1.2 trillion dollars to over 5 trillion dollars. Reagan's budget director, David Stockman, warned Reagan that this would happen before his first budget passed.
