MSFT vetoed move of CFO Maffei to Roadrunner. The speculation is on to find out where he will be headed (obviously a company which MSFT does not influence). I am trying to figure out why the veto was excercised when they know he will be ticked off and leave anyways. By the way he has been with them only 2 years--seems like longer. Does he know something about MSFT's long term plans that may be a threat to the company's strategic planning? Is it to prevent to prevent him from getting on the DOJ's witness list somehow (i doubt this idea is behind it) in the very near future? Maybe if he is at MSFT, his stock options would make sure he has an economic interest to be loyal to the company but if he was to leave, there could be a lot of damage. Just wondering.
