,,Saw a recent article in Transworld Snowboard business, re; Markers new facility in Utah. All reporters had to sign confidentiality agreements, but article pointed out that the equipment, etc. was first rate, state of the art, etc...

Most snowboard/ski factories are somewhat prehistoric. The measuring and applying of bonding material is usually done with a can and paintbrush. The molding and heating process is by large presses that are not constant with heat transmission, and in many cases the pressure is not a constant. The cooling is not controlled and the timing is not accurate.

In Markers new facility the measuring and applying of the bonding agents is all computer controlled and mechanically delivered The heating is thermostatically controlled throughout the entire mold as is the cooling process. During the entire process the machinery is constantly analyzing the molding, curing and cooling and can adjust to predetermined settings. It is very impressive.

In the testing lab products can be repitition flex and strength tested. The products are far stronger than any other products that I saw tested." "Others" included the biggest names in the business. The flex and strength can all be controlled during the laminating/molding process. The machinery is not what was being used by Volkl, even though they were very involved in the design. Just across the street is the other Marker facility which is
about 4 yrs old and houses all the corporate offices, shipping etc.
