RTev: MSFT discovered 2 things recently; Maffei was tiring of being the head bean counter and secondly his broader talents were appreciated elsewhere. Gates can simply explain to Chase and DeVaan that Maffei will be put into this position rather than some outside guy. Since Chase and DeVaan were just interim heads of the Consumer division why should they be upset since Road Runner has already validated Maffei's potential. Notice Road Runner did not seek out Chase and DeVaan . Additionally this move would follow my suggestion in an earlier post before this move by MSFT went public. I guess they pay pretty close attention to this board out at Redmond. JFD
