Bruce --
This is off topic, but my outrage got the better of me and I suspect you may feel the same.
I am not ashamed to say I wept yesterday while watching the funeral service for Rachel Scott. The testimonies of her faith, I believe, moved the entire nation.
I had a different reaction, however, while watching the community memorial service today and listening to Al Gore. He had the audacity to state: "We must replace a culture of violence and mayhem with one of values. We need more discipline and character in our schools . . . ."
Values? Discipline? Character?
This is from someone who has been the chief apologist for all of the sin, reproach, immorality, lies, and cover ups that have emanated from the Whitehouse over the last seven years. If Al Gore and Bill Clinton want to decry a lack of values, discipline and character, then I suggest they start with their own lack of moral fortitude and the disgraceful example of moral relativism and moral decay they have set for our nation's children.
I'm not a Clinton or a Gore basher, and generally I've kept my peace, but what unmitigated gall and hypocrisy!
Sorry for my outburst. I guess this fills my quota of one political statement per year on SI.
God help this nation. God help us all.
