dragonpawn -
My take on Rosen's comments about AV was not that they would not offer some shares to existing shareholders - CPQ has always said that they will keep a majority of ownership no matter what plan they follow on IPO. I understood that they have not determined what the actual treatment of public shares will be. I think the door is still open to either a distribution to existing shareholders or an opportunity to get in at the initial price. We should all express our interest in either distribution or getting in on the IPO.

The question about EP's severance was I thought answered well, but has been incorrectly portrayed. Rosen said that EP did not get a $300M severance, that he had benefited from long ownership of CPQ shares going back 16 years, as anyone who had held shares for that length of time would have done. His severance was closer to $30M and had been negotiated before EP ever took the CEO job. It would be hard to attract a good CEO candidate if the severance package was not appropriate for the risk, and given today's market for top talent, $30M is not out of line.
