Lucent says it wins $150 mln contract in Taiwan
NEW YORK, April 25 (Reuters) - Lucent Technologies (LU - news) said Sunday it had won a contract worth around $150 million to expand Taiwan-based KG Telecom's network.
''Two years after being awarded the initial network supply contract for Taiwan's KG Telecom, Lucent Technologies announced it has again been selected for a major expansion,'' a statement said.
''Under a contract valued at around $150 million, Lucent Technologies will substantially increase KG Telecom's Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) subscriber capacity,'' it said.
Lucent said it would supply and install mobile switching centers, base stations and controllers, and micro cells, ''the latest compact, light in weight, robust, easily installed and maintained base transceiver station''.
