Well, yes, Del, remains like the "Leanderthal" woman have been found in several locales. The first defense of the "Clovis mafia" archaeologists, who are insistent that no one lived in America more than 11,00 years ago, is that the dating is faulty. However, there have been so many of them now that this defense is losing its strength.

Incidentally, I finally found an article about the remains of the four-year-old boy that where discussed on public radio last week:

dailynews.yahoo.com

It never made any sense to me on a biological basis that Neanderthals would be incapable of breeding with more modern men, anyway. They were, after all, clearly human, burying their dead with flowers, etc. Sperm is sperm; eggs are eggs! So I am happy that in the archaeological debate about this issue, the side I agree with is now winning. There are so many obvious vestiges of Neanderthal features in some modern humans that I am surprised that anyone would believe that they could not mate with us, anyway.
