Hi Frank, what have you heard about RTHM's deployment of Paradyne's HotWire MVL digital subscriber line technology, and the performance claims versus reality?

[Note for others: MVL is a proprietary modulation scheme that is an alternative to DMT and CAP for DSL deployment. Apparently, in difficult cases on longer loops (20-30k feet) where other implementations didn't work well (or at all), MVL performed well (albeit at reduced rates). The MVL DSLAM is co-located in the ILEC's CO's ]

Only a portion of their deployments use this.

As well, they are said to be using policy-based routers (Cisco) which allow businesses to use one DSL line for both remote LAN access and Internet access. Is this a much-sought-after feature from what you've seen?

RTHM seems to be somewhat ahead of the game in terms of the services they offer. That's not to say COVD, Northpoint, MGCX, or whomever couldn't offer them too--but they aren't at the moment. The big question is are they getting ahead of themselves and will suffer in the customer service and support ends, or are they making a smart move by leaping beyond the services that are currently "me too" vanilla services into services that businesses truly seek.
