If I may intervene,

The PII-450 MHz run on a 90MHz bus and therefore has lower system bandwidth than a UPA system interconnect (Sun's Bus).

The PII is 32 bits processor and it has a external cache which is much smaller than Sun's normal cache which is 4MB.

The TNT riva is capable of 6 million triangles which are much smaller than the Sun's equivalent Elite 3D graphics card. The Elide graphics chips also has support for 2D graphics, windowing, imaging and the precision required in high end applications like MCAD, CAE (Sun's traditional market).

The RAM memory on a Sun's machine is different than PCs (expensive RAM) but the memory subsystem architecture gives bandwidth to main memory from the microprocessor which will blow the socks off an intel machine.
