LF does give you a list of files on the damaged drive and you select any or all to copy to the destination drive.

I would think a FAT32 drive would be the simplest for a destination drive, as you could put everything there and have it all in one place, if you have a large enough spot on a disk.

Why not get a new hard-drive -- seems like you could use a spare to have around anyways -- call it the Sunday Night Movies drive.
