I received The PSBJ in the mail Thursday... people may have got around to reading their copy this weekend, so you may see strength in the stock today. A blurb in the Seattle Times would really do the trick--you may remember that pop a few months ago in TGEN's stock after a full page article ran in the Sunday edition.
Apparently the small biotech stocks have been ignored for so long that they are increasingly having to look for infusions of private funds. It's a real shame for investors who are holding out, hoping the sector will perk up when suddenly something like a toxic convertible goes through.
Recently a very small company in which I have shares received 1/4M from some wealthy dude who used to be management at Intel. He got a pretty good deal, a discount to the current market price. But you could argue that even the current market price was way too cheap--I say let them buy their shares in the market (but the company needed some cash, etc etc, so what can you do?)
But enough of that, getting back to small companies which are oriented toward cancer. I recently got into MAGN and ONXX, and there are plenty of good bets out there, tell me what they are and I'll swap my ideas for others in a heartbeat...for now, Magainin and Onyx were the best I could find for the price. BIOM has a cancer vaccine, that might be an interesting company. I'm always looking for other suggestions--SUGN, CELG, MOGN, and IMCL would be the more obvious choices right now.
