Ericsson up 3.3 pct on 3Com talk
STOCKHOLM, April 26 (Reuters) - Shares in Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson rose 3.3 percent in early trade on Monday on market talk it was interested in buying U.S. data networker 3Com Corp. (COMS - news), brokers said.

Ericsson shares were 3.3 percent or seven crowns higher at 219 at 0850 GMT, while the Stockholm all-share General index was up one percent.

''The rumour that Ericsson would be interested in 3Com is helping the share,'' a broker said.

Ericsson declined to comment on the market talk, which began on Friday.

Ericsson Chief Executive Sven-Christer Nilsson said earlier this month he did not rule out making large acquisitions in the data networks area. On Saturday he said the company's strategy was to buy companies that complemented its own technology.
