WaveRider Appoints Two New Directors to the Board
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 1999--WaveRider Communications Inc. (OTC BB:WAVC - news), a leading global provider of wireless Internet products, has announced that Gerry Chastelet and Cam Mingay have joined its Board of Directors, effective immediately.
Gerry Chastelet is currently president and CEO of Digital Lightwave Inc. of Clearwater, Florida. Digital Lightwave is a leading provider of high speed telecommunications networks based on fiber optic equipment. Prior to Digital Lightwave, he served as president and CEO of Wandel and Goltermann Technologies Inc. a global supplier of communication test and measurement equipment. From 1993 to 1995 he served as vice president, Sales Marketing and Service - Americas and Asia Pacific for Network Systems Corporation, a supplier of channel-attached communications solutions for large mainframe computers.
Chastelet is a 30-year veteran of the telecommunications industry and has held senior management roles with other high-tech companies including Gandalf Systems Corporation, Paradyne Corporation and IBM. He holds a degree in Electronics Engineering from Devry Institute of Technology and is a graduate of the University of Toronto Executive MBA Program.
Cam Mingay is a partner at Smith Lyons, Toronto, Ontario, Canada and specializes in securities, corporate commercial, high-tech tech and natural resources law. He is currently on the board for Image Processing Systems and Matachewan Consolidated Mines Limited. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin and York University and his law degree at Queen's University.
The corporate commercial group at Smith Lyons acts for a diverse number of public and private corporations and is involved in structuring, negotiating and documenting commercial transactions. Securities activities include public offerings and private placements, mutual funds, corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, takeover and issuer bids and proxy contests.
