UK's Leading PC Manufacturer Includes 3dfx Voodoo3 in High Performance PC Range
LONDON, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Evesham Micros, the leading UK PC manufacturer, announced today it will include 3dfx Interactive's (Nasdaq: TDFX - news) Voodoo3(TM) technology as a standard feature in its EveshamVale Scorcher and Platinum range of PCs. The new Voodoo3 3000 AGP card offers leading graphics technology, capable of delivering more than 100 billion operations per second.
Evesham Micros will feature the Voodoo3 3000 within selected models in its EveshamVale Scorcher-DVD range and its Platinum series. The Scorcher-DVD Voodoo3 offers a choice of Intel processors, with standard features including a DVD-ROM drive and the 16Mb Voodoo3 card. The Platinum Voodoo3 Live! also offers a choice of processors starting with the Pentium II 400, and includes the Creative Labs PC Works FourPoint Surround speaker system and Voodoo3 card. The Platinum Voodoo3 Ultra builds on the Live! specification and is available with either a Pentium III 500 or Pentium III 550 Xeon processor. Prices range from 1,173.83 pounds sterling for the base level Scorcher DVD Voodoo3 to 2,113.83 pounds sterling for the highest spec Platinum Voodoo3 Ultra.
''Voodoo3 is a very exciting launch for all of us at Evesham. After the phenomenal success of Voodoo2 we were hoping for great things of the Voodoo3. This is a major step forward in 3D performance,'' said Richard Austin, Evesham Micros' Managing Director.
The Voodoo3 3000 card is based on a fully integrated 3D and 2D chipset. With a clock speed of 166MHz, and graphics performance of up to 7 million triangles and 333 Megatexels per second, Voodoo3 leads the graphics accelerator market in real-world game performance. In independent tests released recently by ZDTag, the ZD Testing and Analysis Group, Voodoo3 delivers nearly twice the performance of its nearest non-3dfx based competitor tested in Quake II time demos. The test results illustrate Voodoo3's technological leadership of the 3D market.
Designed to enhance the latest generation of computer hardware, Voodoo3 3000 also includes such advanced entertainment technology features as DVD hardware assist, TV-out support, dual 32-bit internal rendering, 8-bit palletized textures, programmable exponential fog tables, Gouraud shading, a full 128-bit 2D accelerator, and support for Glide®, DirectX®, and OpenGL®.
''3dfx is proving that as well as being technologically superior to anything on the market today, it is also ideally suited to the entertainment technology of tomorrow. We're particularly pleased to be able to supply Evesham Micros with a graphics accelerator that perfectly complements the high performance EveshamVale PCs,'' said Michael Howse, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at 3dfx Interactive.
