Global likes to point out that its solid-oxide fuel cells avoid that problem, because they already operate at a high temperature -- about 800 degrees, or 10 times as hot as Ballard's.

I can't believe they'd print such biased trash. Ten times as hot? On what temperature scale, Celcius, Farenheit? If the writer had half a brain the only comparison you could use to say "ten times as hot" would be to use a temperature scale which references absolute zero (zero degrees Kelvin).

Global's stock appears to have risen largely because the company uttered the magic phrase "fuel cells,"
NOT! Many companies are doing FC research, of which SOFC is just one type. The run up is due to the fact that (IMHO) the output has increased AND the temperatures have been lowered, enabling less exotic materials to be used in the fuel cell's construction. The writer seemed to have stepped over all the critical facts, while distorting the existing ones!

GLE is at the leading edge of SOFC R&D, IMHO.
