I heard a statement by Richard Riley (Education Secretary) given in response to the Colorado shooting. He claimed the message of the killings is clear – that parents need to keep firearms away from their children.

Johannes: I agree totally. I mean, give me a break! Guns have been around in great numbers for over 300 years. If it was guns and kids we would have had this problem long before now. Years ago kids were given and taught to use guns at a very early age but with great respect and reverence by the adults. It was a rite of passage to go from a BB gun to a pellet gun then a .22 and to more powerful guns and rifles. You had to earn the right by showing the proper respect in using a potentially deadly weapon responsibly-much like earning the right to drive a car-which can be just as deadly.

The truth is as long as the liberals refuse to accept what has to be done with these kids and society as a whole, we will continue to see their frustrations taken out in violent ways. No guns? Then they will work harder on developing mass destruction means with ubiquitous and readily available materials. Pipe, propane, and gasoline bombs for one or poison or etc. We could potentially be looking at much more loss of human life in one fell swoop rather than taking out one person at a time with bullets. I just see this as a wake up call for all the failed social policies of the last 30 years. We are reaping what we've sown.
