Darren, Re: "As for the Padman being moved around, it could mean any number of things - good or bad. We're just reading too much into it because the company is dead on the news front."
Obviously it COULD mean any number of things- but given Halla's totaly unhedged HIGH praise of the man's work and the on-line fab, the simple solution is to give Halla the benefit of any doubt. IMHO- reading negatives into this move is the real stretch. Time will tell.
I also notice, from the point of view of Via's(speech recognition) CEO, the following..."David Carroll, Via's CEO, is happy with the Cyrix microprocessors, but is even happier that National's product road map leads to PC-on-a-chip. "It will be less expensive," he says. "But cost is not the most important [factor]. Size and integration are. If you reduce the number of parts, you reduce the opportunities for failure." --And one would assume the same sort of statement would be forthcoming from Xybernaut(wearable computing) if asked.
That last is for you, Scumbria. The following hedges all bets...."....a sense of awe at the task Halla undertook. "He's trying to completely change the direction of the company he inherited," says Veerappan, who rates the stock one notch below buy. "I have not witnessed many companies that have gone through this kind of sweeping transition in the semiconductor business.""---
