Carl: Unit sales are only part of the picture. The numbers I've seen have revenues up about 3%. ASPs for boxes are still falling. ps. Those forecasts of DRAM revenues in 2002 are meaningless. Predicting next quarter's revenues is difficult enough. Fearless prediction: For the christmas season 2002 the average home "PC" will be the size of today's walkman, cost $200 and all of the DRAM will be embedded. (The walkman of christmas 1999 will be smaller than a mouse, have digital storage and be the next big thing for memory devices-but not from MU)
