I can't imagine what Bill would gain by putting more money into
Comcast/MediaOne - it's too much to pay.


It's a defensive move. Bill Gates realizes that, under the guise of introducing competition into the local phone market, Ma Bell is transforming itself into Ma Cable.

Once T reaches a critical cable mass, it and not MS will dictate which OS is running on digital settop boxes (read: the next generation of home personal computers).

In addition, T will be able to put a squeeze on cable content providers, both broadcast and interactive...
