RR PLC (aerospace) and Vickers' RR autos had only the name in common. When VW bought Bentley and leased the RR name for autos, RR PLC, controlling the name and in bed with BMW, took the brand away from VW (effective in a few years): iht.com Regarding the low end, a better comparison for Emachines, so far a fierce competitor and by all accounts extremely successful, might be Volkswagen itself. Weren't Bugs first dismissed on similar grounds? -mb
