TI Joins NDS Community:

New DSP-Based Technology Platform from Texas Instruments PowersConverging Networks and Enables Distributed Intelligence

DALLAS, (April 26, 1999) -- A new digital signal processing-based
technology platform designed to enable the convergence of voice, video
and data into a single digital stream across local and wide area networks was announced today from Texas Instruments. TI's Digital Thunder(TM) Platform combines the industry's most powerful TMS320C6000 digital signal processor architecture, with a new software framework and development environment tailored for network services and applications.

The Digital Thunder Platform extends the TI DSP Third Party Program to
include independent third-party software vendors (ISVs) and hardware
developers dedicated to developing networking solutions. Among the
companies that will be working closely with TI to provide the key
technologies for developing network applications will be Novell with its market-leading Novell Directory Services®(NDS™) and Wind River
Systems with its embedded software technology.

"Novell's plan is to bring the networking expertise of Novell's Directory Services – including configuration, policy and security – into TI DSP-powered systems such as residential gateways, access systems, mobile connectivity and Internet appliances," said Christopher Stone, Novell's senior vice president of strategy and business development.
