Thanks, Chris. I highly recommend the following link.

implement.co.uk

The info is several months old (August 1996), but it covers y2k worldwide y2k readiness and breaks it down for countries or geographic areas. The following article is an example, and it relates to Zitel.

Hardware Shortage Ahead

IBM is getting more and more requests for timesharing on its machines. The demand is due to the fact that software re-writes need a whole second machine environment for testing - weekend shut-downs are not enough to handle the time required.

Expect a big demand for new hardware supply. Disc and tape storage is likely to boom for two reasons. First is replacement software suites running in parallel test with live systems. Second is, as British Telecom recently reported, date intensive software replacement means much more storage. Adding two extra digits to all date references can use a lot of disk space.

There's also an article on Coopers and Lybrand work with IBM computers in Great Britain.

Finance Houses Sell [in Great Britain]

Some financial firms are selling off portfolios because it is cheaper than fixing the systems used to manage them, This was revealed at the Update 2000 event held by the IBM Computer Users Forum by Coopers & Lybrand. This revelation may depress the value of many financial instruments.

Regards,

M.M.
