steve there are lots of great places to ocean cruise here. I don"t usually have time to go far from home so we usually go in at Kealakekua bay or the place of refuge, which is a national monument, about 3 miles south of here. The water is very clear both places and it is common to see sea turtles and dolphins. Sometimes manta rays. we carry snorkles with us and can go in at an y time. Most of the shoreline is lava rock so access is only easy in certain places. South of the place of refuge you rarely see anyone and when the ocean is calm there are caves that can be explored. Sounds like you have some great places there too. Many reef fish? Any restictions on gathering? best wishes n1
