For what it is worth:

When I worked at DEC, I had a chance to visit Gensym several times and
check their products. I was impressed. Their AI and neural networks-based
products were well designed and used the latest of object technology.
Their development team was also top notch. They were on the expensive
side, however, and customers were always complaining about that. The
company is uniquely positioned and with few competitors (One I know
of is called Pavilion, not public yet).
