Paul, APple killed the power PC all by itself. APple lovers bask in the short lived glory of the multihued imac, but basic flaws remain, most notable the lack of successor products in the power PC. Both IBM and MOT are hinting they will not go much farther?
Apple sits at 4% share, makes a few gains and crows. Apple needs 50% gain per year for 10 years to become a threat.
As for the blue magic and cyrix, high cost structures in IBM are to blame as others were able to make systems based on those products. IBM motherboards enjoyed more success than their system business.
With IBM tech along with AMD tech a good bond would ensue. Same with CPQ,?
