CHINESE AND FOREIGN TELECOM EXECUTIVES TO GATHER AT CHINA TELECOM 2000

Conference in Washington DC on June 2-3, 1999
WASHINGTON, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Telecom officials and executives from
China and several other countries will gather and speak at the China Telecom
2000 -- Conference on Exploring Business Opportunities in the Kingdom of
Change. The conference is organized by Information Gatekeepers and will be
held at the Swissotel the Watergate in Washington DC from June 2-3, 1999. The
aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity for foreign
telecommunications companies to learn about the fastest-growing dynamic Chinese
telecom markets and to explore business opportunities.
The conference will cover a wide array of topics related to the telecom market
in China. Key areas of discussion at the conference include the Internet,
fiber optics and optical networking, switching, telecom services and the WTO,
telecom investment financing models, new telecom policies, IP phone and fax
regulations, wireless, mobile satellite, VSAT, and access technologies.
Mr. Wu Jiangxing, Chairman of Great Dragon Telecom (GDT), the first domestic
Chinese large capacity central office switch manufacturer will give a keynote
industry address on the prospect of development for the switching equipment
market in China. By the end of 1998, GDT had sold 17 million lines of its
HJD04 central office switches in China, representing 14 percent of the total
installed base and ranking number one among all Chinese manufacturers. GDT is
looking for cooperative opportunities to work with foreign companies on
developing new technologies and markets.
Prof. Zhu Qiliang, Director General of Telecom R&D Center, Beijing University
of Posts and Telecommunications will be another industry keynote speaker. His
speech, "China at the Forefront of Optical Networking Technology Deployment",
will provide an overview of the current development and market trends of the
fiberoptic/optical networking industry in China. He will focus on the optical
fiber and fiberoptic cable market, SDH and DWDM technology deployment, and
future market growth potential.
Another keynote speaker will be from Lucent Technologies. Other speakers
