Drew,

I do not know whether IDC and/or Dataquest use January numbers in DELL's unit estimate. I would be surprised if they did because it would be misleading and totally unnecessary. IDC and Dataquest should run their numbers by DELL and get the nod. Otherwise the are whizing into the wind.

The IDC number- currently 2450 - is a pretty good estimate IMO.
IDC is usually correct within about +-2%. However, last quarter they seemed too high by about 92K units which was an error greater than -4%. The actual number will probably be between 2400 and 2500 units. Remember the quarter is not yet over.

I am not including contributions from Gigabuys or external storage systems as I do not have any points of data on them.

However, I am factoring in my estimates of SG&A and COGS.

It looks like a great quarter following on a good but disappointing quarter. Q2 should be equally strong IMO.

Rehgards,

Jim Kelley
