Back by popular demand, here is STIA4. But first, let's take a look at STIA3 and see how it has done and how it could have done with a bit of trading skill. STIA 3 is at techstocks.com and though I named it as pun on DJIA, it is really a growth portfolio and its benchmark should be Russell 1000 Growth index (which is different than Russell 1000). Furthermore, the list was generated from a sophisticated computer screen and should have been further analyzed by the investors. In addition, no attempt was made to cut losses or add to the winners. For example, ORCL was allowed to fall all the way from 40+ to ~20. I assure you that I would have cut the losses at 32 and would have bought a ton or ORCL at 20. Despite all this, the portfolio had gains of over 16% versus only 6% for Russell 1000 Growth and in fact, it even outperformed DJIA which has been the best performing major index this year. [personal log -- why am I not managing the money on the Street and make a killing with this track record?] Many of these stocks are still good buys, even though they have not made it to the new list.
There is two other things to note: Unlike focused funds like 20/20, this is a very diversified portfolio with limited sector risks. And, about 1/3 of the portfolio will experience a 15%~50% drop at some point over a 3 month period. So unless you are a super stock picker, don't narrow the list too much.
'nuff said. You can find STIA4 at techstocks.com I have synchronized it 20xRUSS.I which means, you invest only $453 in each stock. Other stocks that I am positive about but for one reason or another did not make it to the list are TSM, TQNT, ASML, USM, ANF, WCOM, PSIX, PHG, SNE, HIT, and KEA as well as the major LatAm banks like UBB, BGLY, and BLX.
Good Luck, Sun Tzu

PPS. I tried to short 500 EBAY when it hit my target at 216 today to no avail :( No matter what happens tomorrow, I am sorry that the powers to be have decided that this stock is to risky to be shorted and don't lend to online traders. All I can hope for now is for it to continue to rise for another 3 weeks. |
