In my dealings with Business Wire the only thing they ever bothered to verify was the credit card number.

They never questioned me whether I had the authority to release "news" on behalf of the company nor did they double check my authority with the directors or officers of the company I was releasing news for. My name had never been given to them in the past and I wasn't on file so to speak. I emailed Business Wire an unsigned copy of a press release (they told me no signed faxed copy was needed)and within a short time it was being disseminated through out their system and over the news wire.

It was a bona fide news release but Business Wire made not one effort to establish this fact. As I said all they were interested in was the money.

In my opinion Business Wire is just a whore news wire service. You give them a few hundred bucks and they'll give you a release.

Kerry, you mentioned SLAPP, is that the same as malicious prosecution?

etc.
