Hello Scott...

Looking back at my response I feel I may have over reacted. I apologize for the momentary loss of conscious thought and for accusing you of things you definitely are not.

Gattica - wickedly thoughtful and painfully myopic but then again my film school training would really have fun with pulling that film apart in terms of visual language, theme and context :) Let's face it, it was the filmmakers intent to tap into that fear and loathing many people have about technology and the wrong applications of it.

This discussion is good and I thank you for taking the time to show me new things and give me new food for thought. We are striving for the same goals perhaps our paths don't exactly align themselves but hey, I would hope they did not :) It would make for quite a boring world!

There was one interesting thing you did mention -- about the grocery store tracking my purchases and them years later selling that information to my insurance company....let's reverse that. What if that list was used to trace people for informative purposes? Say to warn them about new scientific findings which could lead to all sorts of medical help, studies, etc?

Seems to me the more I look at this issue the more good and bad I can find. The duality of this issue means no easy answers will present themselves for us to rejoice over and yet...I don't accept that as the final say in this matter.

In fact, I feel we should explore this issue vigorously in lively discussions with ourselves, our leaders (political as well as spiritual) and the technologists. Perhaps some time in our lives we may find a common ground which can address both sides of this privacy issue but for now, it's on with the discussions :)

Have a great day and thanks!

Peter J Strifas
