Re: DSL Deployments via Providers

DougHboy,
Perfect time to ask this question. If I'm not mistaken, the DSL Providers come into the LEC's territory, lease their copper lines at a fixed rate, move into their CO's (and I guess customer's premises) and install DSL equipment. Then they get the broadband revenue the LEC could have had themselves!

I cannot figure out why the LEC's are sitting still while DSL providers move in on them. Can anyone explain what appears to be almost lethargic movement by the LECs to do their own DSL deployments? I know they can't be that slow. So there must be some reasoning to their madness.
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)
