Terry, is the Epson Zip an IDE (parallel interface) or does it have an
SCSI interface.? The model with SCSI interface is seveal times faster
than the parallel interface (I believe 80 vs. 20 MB/min transfer rate)
and may account for the difference on price.

Also, I read a while back that the quality of the Epson Zip is not quite
as good as the real thing from Iomega. I can't recall whether that
comment came from Iomega or not.
