lml - A couple of days ago, you noted, "[snip]IMHO, the Street's reactions today implies it remains focused on the "promise" of DIMD to extract itself from the quicksand of the video-card biz that has plagued this Company -- & its management for too long now." Over on the TDFX board, someone allegedly close to TDFX noted that, in spite of the following large chunk of business, DIMD might not be making money which fits what you think may be the case. Thought you'd like to know that you are not alone.

"Micron to Standardize on
NVIDIA's Graphics in Micron™
Millennia® Line of Desktop
Computers

—Diamond Multimedia's Viper V 770 Ultra to
Accelerate Millennia PCs—

Santa Clara, California, April 27,
1999—NVIDIA™ Corporation (Nasdaq:
NVDA) and Micron Electronics Inc.
(Nasdaq: MUEI) announced today that
their work together will soon result in
Micron standardizing on NVIDIA TNT2
graphics processors in all Micron™
Millennia® desktop systems. Micron
currently offers the NVIDIA RIVA TNT™ 3D
graphics processor as an option with its
Millennia systems. Later this year, Micron
plans to offer the 16MB NVIDIA RIVA TNT2
graphics processor as the standard
graphics technology for the Millennia
computers and the 32MB NVIDIA TNT2
graphics processor as an upgrade option.
Diamond Multimedia Systems (NASDAQ:
DIMD) will produce the graphics
accelerators that incorporate the NVIDIA
TNT2 processors through their Viper V770
Ultra 16MB and 32MB solutions.
[snip - much more to the PR but mostly
about NVDA .]"

You are almost right about the pullback to about 4, too. Where were you when I really needed you?
Regards,
Harry
PS - MicronPC is, I believe, the 3rd largest direct mail PC maker/seller. I woulda posted this sooner but got interested in Micron's financials while wandering around their website looking for the press release page (which, by the way, was none too easy to find if any of you MicronPC people are out there.)
